Commit to Zero Waste

Conferences and summits are a great way to bring like-minded professionals together to share ideas and bring actionable practices back to their organizations. However, these events can also have a significant environmental impact. Hundreds or even thousands of attendees generate a great deal of waste, from empty coffee cups to lunch refuse to paper products, and in many cases, the venue is not equipped to responsibly dispose of these materials. Recyclables and organic waste are unfortunately sent to landfills rather than diverted to more responsible methods of disposal, such as composting for organics and recycling centers for plastics, paper, and glass.

The firms to partner together or develop waste management systems in the organization internally will bring up the solution. Partners when able to plan ahead to divert waste into proper groups and weigh the environmental impact of diverting these materials, we will be able to calculate and hence, come up with a solution to mitigate the same.

How can it work? All waste disposal cans at the venue can be replaced with three clearly marked receptacles: Organics, Recyclables, and Trash. This can provide an initial method of separating waste streams.

This short example of how waste can be managed in an event can be taken at a higher level which leads us to our dream of A FUTURE WITHOUT WASTE.
